October 2023. I learned and performed an arrangement of The Who's Pinball Wizard for a friend's wedding. It was fun to branch out into a new genre! At the wedding I played on a steel string guitar, but made this recording on my usual nylon string guitar.
June 2023. My latest multi-track project was the spunky Monarch Rag by Robert Mayeur. The sheet music was written in swing time, requiring a special rhythmic interpretation that was new to me. To make the four "players" look different, I incrementally shaved my beard between takes! Each part was recorded against a metronome beat, and then mixed them together in Audacity.
February 2022. For Valentine's Day, I recorded an original arrangement of Romantic Flight by John Powell. This piece is from the movie How to Train Your Dragon, and is originally composed for a full orchestra. In my minimalistic rendition, I used harmonics and a pizzicato bass line to add texture. While I had the orchestral score as a reference, most was adapted by ear.
